Chitkul
The Last Inhabited Village on the Indo-Tibet Border
Nestled at the far end of the enchanting Sangla Valley right before the Indo-Tibetan border, Chitkul is the last inhabited village in India where civilians can travel without a special border permit. Surrounded by snow-draped Kinnaur peaks, crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Baspa River, and golden buckwheat fields, Chitkul is celebrated as having the cleanest air in India and an untouched fairy-tale charm.
